Why are you a Satanist?
As an Atheistic Satanist, the question can be a Catch 22 when asked of me, as the presumption is often that I believe in a literal Satan. Which of course I don't. Simply put, it offer's me cultural license under pre-defined terms to state my case.
I am a Satanist because in it's 'simplest' terms, it defines who I am historically and as defined by myth. It empowers the strength of the individual, as well as holding me responsible for any action I put forth. It encompasses my carnal and validates my gut instinct, recognizes imagination, grief, guilt and joy without having to throw myself to the ground in supplication to an imaginary god/goddess for approval, answers or forgiveness. I have, in all cases, only myself to answer to and in that I want to make this life the best.
